World’s Sweetest Internship 2019

Mars Wrigley Confectionery, the world’s largest maker of chocolate, chewing gum, mints and fruity confections, seeks a passionate advocate with a big heart, boundless imagination and an unwavering commitment to making life in their community just a little bit sweeter. The World’s Sweetest Internship is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join our team of 500+ Chicagoland Associates who work behind the scenes every day to bring the magic of confectionery to life and better moments to consumers around the world. You will have the chance to up-level your community-building skills by developing communications, digital storytelling and program management skills, while expanding your network among corporate and NGO community engagement leaders in the city.

Job Description

From our global headquarters on Goose Island in Chicago, you will be responsible for helping us in our mission to create #BetterMoments that make our city, and the world, smile. Mars Wrigley Confectionery’s Associates, resources and partnerships will be at your disposal to organize events and activations that exemplify the ways we’re giving back to the city we call home.

You will meet experts from across the business—from R&D to marketing—and learn how every Associate plays a part in improving our communities. You’ll also have an inside track to work closely with Mars Wrigley Foundation leadership to understand and celebrate the local and global partnerships that have made a real difference in the lives of millions of people over the past 30+ years. And you’ll collaborate with our Corporate Affairs and Community Engagement teams to apply your expertise to execute a signature Mars Volunteer Program event at the end of the summer that will unite our Chicago Associates for a day of giving back.

But what would this internship be without the magical experience of candy-making? With visits to nearby manufacturing sites, you will go behind-the-scenes to see firsthand how our products are made and sample a wide spectrum of chocolate, gum and fruity confections – including flavors that haven’t yet reached the public and brand varieties that are offered in 180 countries around the world.

Imagine – one day you’re visiting the city’s largest landmarks to reward Chicagoans with M&M’S®, SKITTLES®, EXTRA®, DOVE® and SNICKERS®; the next you’re making a batch of your dream grapefruit matcha gum (who are we to judge?) in our on-site R&D labs; the following you’re leading a team of volunteers to increase oral care access in underserved communities, restore community gardens or beautify our branch of the Chicago River.

To reward you for bringing smiles to the city, we’ll bring a smile to yours: The World’s Sweetest Internship is an 8-12 week, fully paid opportunity—with a signing bonus of one year’s worth of candy.
